Brian Avers: Director, Co-Producer, Story By

BRIAN AVERS has created and directed several plays; The Weekend is his first feature film.  Brian received his MFA at NYU, where he was the only actor rewarded an AV Global Fellowship in the Arts.  He has performed on Broadway in Rock N Roll by Tom Stoppard, and in The Lieutenant of Inishmore by Martin McDonagh, off-Broadway as Edgar in King Lear at the Public Theater, opposite Kevin Kline; world premiere of The Explorer’s Club at MTC, as well as Itamar Moses’ Completeness and Gina Gionfriddo’s Becky Shaw, both directed by Pam MacKinnon.  Numerous film and TV appearances include Gigantic opposite Paul Dano and Zooey Deschanel, Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia, “Castle”, “The Closer”, “Medium”, “Person of Interest”, “Golden Boy”, “Blue Bloods”, and recurring character Mike Renko on “NCIS” and “NCIS: Los Angeles”.  He is currently developing multiple projects for film, television and the internet.

Michael Izquierdo: Producer, Cinematographer

MICHAEL IZQUIERDO is a producer of three feature films, The Weekend, the award-winning The Last Day of August, and soon to be released horror film, Viscera.  He has appeared on TV and in such films as The Wolf of Wall Street, Taking Woodstock, Meet Dave, Heterosexuals and “Blue Bloods”.  Broadway and Off-Broadway credits include King Lear at The Public, Go Back to Where You Are at Playwrights Horizons, New Jerusalem at CSC, Mother Courage with Meryl Streep, and The Miracle Worker, among others.  He has an MFA from NYU Tisch’s Graduate Acting Program.  He has also produced and starred in the hit web-series iChannel (Fox), and numerous shorts and web-shows, and has directed music videos.  His voice can be heard on many TV commercials, narrations, and networks.  He is the founder of Sunnyside Films, and a native New Yorker.

Ben Stauffer: Editor, Co-Producer

BEN STAUFFER has worked on a wide variety of productions in both film and television including the Telly Award winning documentary series Streetball (ESPN), Through the Fire (Hock Films), Heights (Merchant Ivory Productions), The Heads Up Poker Championships (NBC), The World Series of Poker Europe (ESPN), The Season: 1985 (MLB) and is currently working on the reality television show Million Dollar Contractor (DIY).

Craig DiFolcoSecond Camera & Additional Scripting

CRAIG DIFOLCO received his MFA from Columbia University.  He has produced short films, written several features and was a writer on the romantic comedy Mutual Friends (dir. by Matthew Watts).  He created and directed the hit web series, iChannel, seen by over 2 million viewers; and has also worked extensively in production, most noticeably as an assistant to Hunting Lane Films.  He directed the indie hit, The Last Day of August.

Tim Blane: Original Score

Tim Blane is a singer/songwriter, composer, and producer. From 2006-2011, he released 3 albums and toured the U.S., sharing the stage with acts like the Goo Goo Dolls, Cake, and Fabolous. He was nominated for a Boston Music Award, was twice a finalist in the Starbucks Songwriting Competition, and has 15 different Ourstage.com songwriting wins. His song “Magnetic” was a finalist of the 2011 International Songwriting Competition, and CAA’s 2009 “Cassandra Report” named him an artist to watch. In 2012, Tim scored two feature films, (Screwed and The Weekend) and a short film (Eyes and Ears.) He also scored several web videos, including a political ad for WakeTheBeast.com (“My Body is Mine.”) Previously, Tim was hired to write and record custom ringtones for a Pepsi/YahooMusic campaign. Since 2009, he has been seen in millions of homes teaching guitar and piano lessons as the teacher in Apple’s “Garageband” program. Tim also teaches “Music Theory for Songwriters” classes at the Songwriting School of Los Angeles.

Derrek Coss: Branding & Poster Design

DERREK COSS is a Boston, Massachusetts based illustrator & graphic designer.  Derrek graduated from the Art Institute of Boston with a degree in Illustration and Design. His schooling included studying abroad at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, Holland.  In 2004 Derrek was inducted into the Society of Illustrators in New York City.  He is currently employed as an Art Director and has worked with dozens of clients including the Boston Celtics, the American Heart Association, Boston University, and Price Waterhouse Coopers.  Additionally, he continues his freelance pursuits, participates in gallery exhibitions and creates his own original art often focusing on the more subversive sides of culture.  An artist inspired by low brow art, counterculture, the Bauhaus school, Push Pin Studios, and the DeStijl movement, Derrek creates engaging images that humor, inform, and entertain us while remaining loyal to his creative influences.

Katie Meister: Associate Producer

KATIE MEISTER is happy to be a part of The Weekend team.  Currently, she is working post production on a documentary film entitled Best Kept Secret about a Newark teacher’s struggle to find placement for her six autistic students as they “age out” of the security of the New Jersey public school system.  She is also in the process of developing the comedy web series Riding with Rejects, loosely inspired by reality TV dating shows.  BA: Brown University; MFA: NYU Graduate Acting.

Krystel Lucas: Associate Producer

KRYSTEL LUCAS is thrilled to be on The Weekend‘s creative team. Theatrically, she was also associate producer on the world premiere of Human Animals Theater Company’s Post Office.  Her acting credits include The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Old Globe Theatre, Death and the King’s Horseman, Macbeth, All’s Well That Ends Well at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Good People at Dorset Theatre Festival, The Sty of the Blind Pig at TheaterWorks Hartford, In the Next Room or the vibrator play at St. Louis Rep, and The Summer House at Passage Theatre Company. She received her BA from UNC-Asheville and her MFA from the NYU Graduate Acting Program.
